Pressure Mapping

A pressure mapping system is a flat piece of material with sensors that measure pressures. It was designed for researchers in order to make determinations about comfort, pressure ulcers or product differences. Pressure mapping uses sophisticated hardware and software. This system is currently being used by the Healthcare Finance Administration to categorize cushions.

Most pressure mapping systems are computer based. The numbers on the screen correspond with a pressure reading. Blues are low pressures and reds are high pressures. The pressure mapping system measures uniaxial pressure (vertical or straight down) and does not measure shear forces. The MitiGator™ Technology is an engineered cushioning system designed to protect people from hi-speed, hi-impact assaults and to allow them to continue to perform their jobs or enjoy their leisure time. The MitiGator™ uses patented air control technology working with 4,044 surfaces per square foot to dissipate energy before it is transmitted to the body and thus help alleviate the problems.
