SEAS Reports Test Results from DOD
SEA Systems Group Receives Favorable Test
Results
from Naval Surface Warfare and Air Force
on Prototypes Delivered in 2002.
March 24, 2003
SEA Systems Group, Inc. announced today that it has received positive results from independent testing performed by the US Navy and Air Force. The encouraging test results should lead to additional research and development programs as well as to the procurement of The MitiGator™ products by the military, says Barbara McKinney, President of SEAS.
In Air Force tests conducted at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH, The MitiGator™ prototype seat cushion out-performed all others in ACES II ejection seat evaluations. In drop testing to simulate the effects of an ejection, The MitiGator™ overall reduced lumbar loading to crash test dummies more than current and competitors 'new' seat cushions. The lumbar load was reduced lumbar loading by as much as 25% over other products, depending on the test conditions. The test results can be viewed in a graphic presentation on SEAS home page at www.seasgroup.com. Further Air Force testing is expected to be conducted in 2003.
Naval Surface Warfare's Combatant Crafts Department completed testing in January, 2003 on The MitiGator™ deck mats for small, high speed boats aimed at preventing injuries to crew during operations. In test results released last week, The MitiGator™ products were found to be superior to all other competitors in subjective evaluations by craft crew members during testing on Chesapeake Bay. In addition to the subjective evaluations by three crew members, data collected from accelerometers attached to the boat deck and to crew members boots, also indicated significant reductions in the accelerations transmitted through the deck mats to the crew members. The reduced accelerations encountered by crew members should translate into fewer injuries to small boat crews during high speed maneuvers in rough water.
Further Navy testing is expected to be conducted in 2003 for deck mats and seat cushions for small high speed boats as well as for fixed wing and ejection seat aircraft. It is anticipated that small boat deck mat, seat cushions and rotor wing seat cushions procurement by the Navy will begin in the third quarter of 2003.
Mr. Richard McKinney, Vice President of New Product Development at SEAS, states that "it is very exciting to see products utilizing The MitiGator™ technology performing well in so many applications. We look forward to fielding some of these systems during 2003 so that we can begin to reduce the number preventable of injuries sustained by the US military."
